The Bevvy with Bob content series started right where it should have, with an ice-cold beer served at center ice in 3M at Mariucci Arena. Throughout the course of the season the series would move off-campus with a trip to a favorite Gopher watering hole and even a visit to a frozen lake to go ice fishing. 

The University of Minnesota Men’s Hockey Team had news. For the first time ever, they were going to allow beer sales at 3M Arena at Mariucci. And the program had a new coach in Bob Motzko who was just the type of guy you’d want to drink a beer with.

This led to a stupid simple idea: interview Coach Motzko in the amount of time it takes to drink a beer. The Bevy with Bob content series was able to both inform people there would finally be beer sales at Gopher hockey games, while also giving a nod to the direction of the program under Motzko’s leadership. Motzko wanted University of Minnesota hockey to sew a blue collar on its maroon and gold jerseys, and to play with enough grit and tenacity to have everyone once again cheering for the Gophers in the dive bars of Saint Paul.
