‘Sota Style Pizza.
When it comes to pizza, most people are familiar with Chicago deep dish, or a New York slice. Pizza from Minnesota . . .well, that’s an entirely new idea. Red’s Savoy pizza was determined to make ‘Sota Style pizza a thing in the world, and they were ready to use all their creative molecules to do it.
In order to make ‘Sota Style a thing, and more importantly to make it their thing—Red’s Savoy had to be prolific. They had to put themselves out there, and behave differently. And they did. Starting with a series of homespun Minnesota themed videos that launched in the State High School Hockey Tournament, Red’s Savoy was able to share the recipe for ‘Sota Style pizza with the rest of the world: thin crust, passive aggressive sauce, loaded with toppings, smothered in cheese and cut into squares.
Over time, Red’s Savoy was able to show the world that ‘Sota Style was far bigger than a recipe. Whether it was showcasing how a group of regulars called the “Savoy Boys” were coping with the Covid-19 quarantine, helping local heroes with the #LoveLarge program, hosting meat raffle bingo on Thursday nights, or doing an official name change to Maroon & Gold Savoy when Minnesota played Wisconsin in football—Red’s Savoy has made ‘Sota Style a lifestyle. In the process, they’ve been able to make their brand synonymous with the original Minnesota pizza as proclaimed by their familiar catchphrase, “’Sota Style since 1965.”
