Sioux Falls Stampede

Hooves Up Season 2

The first season of the Sioux Falls Stampede’s “Hooves Up” docuseries provided a 10,000-foot view of the franchise. Episodes focused on the history of the club, and its role pioneering South Dakota into a hockey state.

Season 2 of “Hooves Up” required turning a full throttle Stampede on a dime. The storied franchise had missed the playoffs for consecutive seasons, and change was afoot in Sioux Falls. The team had lured new VP of Hockey Operations Tony Gasparini back from the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and hired new head coach Eric Rud.

To best show the Stampede’s renewed emphasis on development and commitment to restoring their winning culture, the docuseries had to shift from big picture history and legacy of the club, to getting both of its skates on the ground focusing on the team and staff charged with restoring the Stampede’s winning tradition. If year one of “Hooves Up” was about the brand, history, and tradition of the club—year two was all about the hockey.

The season began with an episode titled “The Pivot” showcasing the hiring of a new VP of Hockey Operations and Head Coach. Additional episodes would highlight the team’s emphasis on a positive attitude, an epic mid-season wiener dog night, as well as the team’s push for the playoffs.
